Contrasting images

For my homework this week I had to find 4 contrasting images and describe them and what my feelings on them are. So ENJOY!

This images shows the contrasting colours of tulips. This is a very unique image, I'm not sure if the flowers are real or if they were done on photo shop. Nevertheless they're still very vibrant. I love the way the flowers start off as one colour, then transition into a rainbow of colours. There is contrasting between the flowers and the stems and leaves. The flowers are bought to the centre of attention in the foreground, whereas the stems and leaves are almost blurred out of the image and into the background. I chose this image because of the vibrant and unique colours. The petals on the flowers look like they have veins of colour injected through them. The image makes me feel calm and serene, despite their vibrancy. They're warm colours. Like the colours of being in the sunlight for too long, and then closing your eyes and seeing the colours behind your eyelids.

This image makes me feel free. It's as though I'm the tiger, swimming in the sea. I can imagine how it feels to extend and kick it's legs through the water pressure. Again there is contrast in colours. The vibrant turquoise water brings out the burnt orange and black stripes of the tigers fur. There is also contrast between the calm of the ocean, and the almost ferociousness, prow like character of the tiger. The ocean looks very inviting but the tiger makes me feel adamant to go in. This is a very unusual picture, because tigers are from the cat family and cats don't like water. The photographer must have been very brave to take this photo.

This image makes me feel torn. I can feel the strain of the girl in the picture. The girl in the picture looks like there's a fight raging within herself, almost like she can't cope, and is turning to the sky for help. I think the image is a metaphor, she isn't really an angel. The wings are to symbolise the fight within her. The contrast between the side of darkness and the side of light. The way she is all dressed in black, and the black wing is in the forefront maybe is to show, more darkness is within her than light. To show that she may have made the wrong choices in life and it has nearly consumed her. The white wing is the glimmer of hope. The promise of change, so she can save herself from the darkness.

There is contrast between the feelings here. There is one face devastated, while the other is overjoyed, but almost in a cruel way. It's as if one is laughing at the other one, taking pleasure in it's distress. I get more of the feeling of sadness rather than the feeling of happiness. It reminds me of a primary school argument. One person decides to cause trouble for no reason, and makes the other one the joke of the school without even considering their feelings. Also the masks could be meant to symbolise something. One mask could be how the person looks from the outside, a mask to hide their true feelings inside.
